A survey executed for
the purpose of obtaining general information essential for planning and designing an engineering projects or for developing and estimating its cost. The information obtained is typically recorded in
the form of an engineering map. The map is usually a large-scale map of a comparatively small area.
Common example of engineering design survey may be Right-of-Way Engineering service which includes the definition of existing street and or highway rights-of-way for the purpose of assisting the
local agency in acquiring additional public road right-of-way for street and/or highway purposes. Another example of engineering design survey may be a Boundary, Site, Topographic and Utility Survey
of existing parcel of land that is proposed for a new development.
